| The Skinny The Folsom International Triathlon on Sunday, August 13th, 2006 will be the final meeting place to determine who is the fastest club on the West Coast. Several local clubs have been battling for two seasons to accumulate points in the championship series of designated events. The series will include the Caliman Half Ironman Event (Sun June 11th) at it’s new home in Morgan Hill and the Olympic distance event at Folsom International. What's At Stake At stake in the series are bragging rights to being the "fastest club on the West Coast," a custom apparel award offered by J&A Productions, known throughout the triathlon community for their lavish and innovative awards. J&A has also agreed to throw a beer and BBQ bash at the winning club's home turf for all club members. With club membership and team spirit at an all-time high, the Championship Series encourages friendly competitiveness between the local clubs and encourages the Bay Area Clubs to go head to head against the Sac and Reno area clubs. There are two award categories: three male and three female team and overall club top score. For the overall club competition, all team members score 5 points for finishing and additional points are awarded for club members who place top-10 in their age groups. Points System The Scoring System Each registered club member crossing the finish line = 1 point Maximum allowable “finisher only” points = 20 Age Group Placing Points
For example: GoFast Tri Club has 24 finishers including 1x First Place Age Grouper and 3rd Place Age Grouper. They would earn 38 Championship Points. 20 for the finishers, 10 for the 1st place and 8 for the 3rd place After the first race at Caliman, the Championship points will be tallied, distributed to the club Captains and posted on the J&A Website. The same scoring system will be used at Folsom and the points from the two events will dictate the overall winner.
