Hemet Triathlon Two of the innaugural triathlon students at Charter School Morgan Hill finished their first race at the Hemet Triathlon in So.Cal early December! Congrats to Katie Mains (2nd place A.G. and pictured with her proud papa to the right) and Jenny Obema (4th place A.G.)! Also, congrats to our two other Hammerheads, Kooper (1st A.G.) and Katie (6th A.G.) rocked! Woo Hoo!

Hammerhead Racing Team Hammerhead Triathlon is a California-based, junior elite/U23 developmental team, coached by USA Triathlon Talent Scouts, with the mission of supporting emerging talent in the sport of triathlon/duathlon. The Hammerhead Racing Team is funded in part by the BAM! Foundation. Hammerhead athletes range between 8 and 18 years of age and are encouraged to maintain impressive academic careers while they become the healthy champions of tomorrow in a motivational and supportive atmosphere. Hammerhead Triathlon, is taking applications to become a member of our youth development program and racing team.
Opportunities for Team Members:
- Coached training, (Wednesday track and weekend ride), from March-November
- Learn more about the sport of triathlon
- Train with experienced pro and semi-pro triathlon coaches in a supportive environment
- Receive a coaching scholarship based equally on 4 items: athletic promise, financial need, previous athletic and/or community service, and
academic success!
- Learn to set and attain goals
- Learn how to handle set-backs productively
- Get better at your original sports through the benefits of multi-sport training
- Learn to utilize your training time more effectively
- Increase your speed and efficiency
- Improve your technical skills
- Meet other athletes to train with
- Travel to events with other team members
- Receive team discounts for coaching, sponsor product and weekend training clinics
- Knowledge and availability of upcoming USAT sponsored events
- As a member of USAT, you will receive the benefits of membership (national ranking, possible team inclusion to Team USA, etc)
Obligations of the Hammerhead Coaches:
- Provide a SUPER supportive atmosphere for children to foster socially and physically during training and races
- Offer four or more group coaching sessions per month and one-on-one coaching workouts at discounted rates.
- FREE gifts and discounted items from our product sponsors, Specialized Bikes, Spokesman Bicycles, PowerBar and Rudy Project
- Offer a variety of training, positive social interaction and top notch USA Triathlon certified coaches.
- Provide coaching support at 6 youth races.
- Meet individually with each athlete every month to discuss goals and training logs
- Coach the most efficient and up to date methods of swimming, cycling, running, nutrition, hydration and how to transition between events.
- Emphasize proper technique, safety, pacing and sportsmanship.
- And most importantly, to help our racers have a blast!!!

Uniform Kit Athletes who join Hammerhead Triathlon and fulfill the paperwork requirements found within the contract will receive the equipment listed below. Athletes, family and friends are allowed to buy more than one from our gear page.

Team Discounts & Sponsors There will be a 20% discount on private coaching given to any Hammerhead triathlete training one-on-one with Hammerhead Coaches. Other discounted or free items from our sponsors such as PowerBar, Specialized, TYR, Spokesman Bicycles and Rudy Project may become available.
2007 Racing The races our group trains for are local qualifiers for the national and international youth and junior championships. TBA

Age Groups: The Youth division in multisport events is considered to be ages 7 to 14 years and Juniors, 15-23. Age categories are generally broken down into ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. Juniors include those 15-23.
Distances that Athletes will be training for:
Age: 7-10yrs Swim: 100 meters Cycle: 5 km/ 3.1 miles Run: 1 km/.6 miles
Age: 11-14yrs Swim: 200 meters Cycle: 10 km/ 6.2 miles Run: 2 km/ 1.2 miles
Age: 15-23yrs Swim: 500 meters Cycle: 19.3 km/ 12 miles Run: 5 km/ 3.1miles
Fees
- Summer (March 1-November 31) Coaching Dues: $600 per athlete. Those joining 7/1 or later will pay $300 for the season.
- Winter (November-March) Coaching Dues: $300 per athlete.
- Uniform Dues: $200 per athlete for new athletes only. This fee is due when the athlete joins the team.
- Clinics/Training Weekends are not included but are offered at discounted rates.
- Scholarships are also available and funded by the BAM Foundation!
