entrance gate and drive to the dirt parking lot.  Signs will help you find your way.

For those parents/guardians and young athletes that are unfamiliar with triathlon or have questions on the
event, we will be holding an orientation.  Media may be present so wear your sporty stuff!
We will answer
questions and w
alk portions of the race course. The bike course will not be toured due to its length but
the exit to and entrance from the bike route will be identified.  We anticipate that the orientation will take no
more than one-half hour.

PARKING
Athletes and families will park in the main lot and enter though the front gate.  Parking will be free if athletes
enter prior to 9:15 A.M..  Anyone afterwards will be charged for parking. Please refer to
Bonfante Gardens
for information on parking fees.  FOR THOSE NOT ENTERING THE PARK THAT DAY: Athletes will need to
drop off athletes at the main parking lot, drop off whomever they need to at the front gate, then they can
follow the exit signs and park in the dirt lot and watch the event from there.  These people will NOT be able
to see the swim.

COURSE DESCRIPTION (More information available on the "General Info" page).
Swim: The swim will take place in the super-clean lake within Bonfante Gardens.  For those familiar with
Bonfante Gardens, the lake is where the Swan Ride normally takes place.  Here's some recent news from
Bonfante Garden's safety crew:

    July 4, 2006
We have had an increase in the amount of algae in our lake do to the extreme heat over the
last month.  In addition to comply with our energy company we had to shut down waterfalls
and circulation pumps which also added to the problem.

Bonfante Gardens is dedicated to not putting in harsh chemicals to combat the problem.  In
preparation for this event we have added microbes in recent days to assist in clearing the
lake.  This process takes a few days to see an effect.  Pumps are running now and do not
foresee them being turned of prior to the event.  Our landscape team is also prepared to
hand skim the lake as they do from time to time prior to the event.

The trash will certainly be cleaned.  It is a constant problem and some guests are not a
considerate on disposing their trash as you might hope.

Keeping all of this in mind it is a lake and not the pool that they have used in the past.  We
thought that this would be a unique opportunity for children to use our lake in a way no one
    has before.

                   ~Trevor Wilson

Transition Area One: The first transition area takes place in an area close to the lake.  Athletes will then
bike out of the park area and into the paved parking lots and surrounding roads.

Bike: Athletes will be racing on road bikes or mountain bikes around and through the paved parking lots
and surrounding roads.

Transition Area Two: This transition area will be close to the finish line at the post-race party area!

Run: Older athletes will be surprised at the toughness of our run course!   A run to the top of the hill in back
of Bonfante Gardens will give athletes a view they might have not wanted to have see.  Younger athletes
will be able to avoid this area and will run closer to the finish area.

MAPS
Athletes/parents are responsible for knowing their courses!  I remember racing and riding as a youth and if
I went off course, I was disqualified and I didn't whine about it!  Please keep the tradition.  The race
committee is giving you plenty of time to study the course.  Please use your time wisely, peoples.
