Who are these Programs For?
The personal coaching programs are for runners of all abilities from beginners to elite athletes. All participants must be healthy with no physical or psychological conditions that would prohibit their engaging in strenuous physical activity. The programs contain rest days, easy runs, long runs, speed training workouts, lactate threshold workouts, form drills and strength training. The training programs are designed to build speed, improve speed endurance and increase both general and functional strength. Training Philosophy The information delivered during the training programs will enable runners of all ability levels to finish a race comfortably and safely. These programs center on a few simple training concepts: 1) A gradual increase in long run mileage, 2) Modest weekly mileage totals, and 3) Injury prevention strategies. The biggest challenge of the race is NOT the ability to finish the race but rather, the task of making it to the starting line both rested and healthy. Although we can't promise that the training will be easy, we can say that most athletes who have followed our training plans not only finished their events successfully but also enjoying their training and avoided burnout. You can too! 5K 5K races have become the most popular road racing distance. There is a 5K race almost every weekend in most areas. The 5K offers a something for everyone. The relatively short distance makes it achievable for novice runners and the need for sustained speed supplies a challenge for more advanced runners. The need for long distance sustained speed also makes it a perfect “time trial” or training run for longer distances such as 10K’s and marathons. 10K 10K races have become very popular in the past several years. The need to maintain a pace close to the lactate threshold level, for a long period of time, provides a great challenge to athletes of all levels and abilities. This training program is designed to build speed, improve speed endurance and increase both general and functional strength. 1/2 Marathon The half marathon, while not as popular as its big brother, the full marathon, has gained in participation numbers. This training program is designed to build speed, improve speed endurance and increase both general and functional strength. Marathon-The Mother of all Running Races.
